The popular serial ‘Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai’ is coming to an end, and actor Angad Hasija, who plays the schizophrenic Alekh in it, is experiencing a mixed bag of emotions. “I’m emotionally attached to the serial. I’m sad that we all won’t be working together on ‘Bidaai’ anymore. They were happy moments, probably the happiest ones of my life,” he said.

This story of two sisters, Sadhna and Ragini, captured the imaginations of the Indian viewers who grew with these sisters, celebrated in their happiness and grieved in their sorrows. The characters played Sara Khan (Sadhna), Parul Chauhan (Ragini), Angad Hasija (Alekh), Ranveer (Kinshuk Mahajan), Alok Nath (Mamaji), Vibha Chibbar (Kaushalyaji), Apoorva Agnihotri (Anmol), Ashita Dhawan (Malti), Amardeep Jha (Sumitra), Naveen Saini(Vineet) became members of every Indian household.

The show had some memorable moments like the romantic union of Ranveer and Ragini at Taj Mahotsav, the sisters clash at Natraj Mahatosav and the unforgettable Ragini-Ranveer wedding that fetched an average of 8.9 TVR, the highest that any Hindi GEC shows fetched in previous 100 weeks prior to week 2 of 2010. The most tragic turning point of the story, Sadhana’s death, came as a shock to the fans, making it almost impossible for them to get used to the idea of Sadhna not there in their lives. Despite that, the show never failed to attract its viewers to tune in at 9 pm, day after day, week after week making it the staple diet of every television buff in the country.

Initially, there were lots of talks to move the show to an afternoon slot but the idea was rejected.

Recently, ‘Bidaai’ has completed 700 successful episodes. The show has been airing on Star Plus since October 8, 2007. Since last three years, viewers have offered lost of love to the show and its characters. The story of two sisters touched everyone starting from a housewife to a young college student as it was a story of four youths.

Sara Khan and Parul Chauhan became popular as Saadhna and Ragini, the two female lead characters. Actors Angad Hasija and Kinshuk Mahajan were known by all as Alekh and Ranvir. Recently, the show had a seven year leap and following this, the show missed Saadhna and Ranvir, who opted to move out of the show.

A new drama produced by Sphere Origins’ or Shakuntalam Telefilms, is likely to replace ‘Bidaai’.

Competition’s getting fierce and channels are going all out to fight each other. Serials that aren’t doing well are shown the door in no time.

And now serials that are doing well too are getting axed in a bid to start newer shows to boost gross rating points (GRPs). There’s buzz that the three- year-old Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai will go off air next month and the channel’s looking to replace it with a new show in the prime-time slot. The serial actors are hoping there’s no truth to the buzz.

Parul Chauhan, who plays Ragini, said, “I have heard these rumours, but the cast hasn’t received any formal notice regarding the show going off air.” She added, “Our show has always received good TRPs, so I don’t see why it should be shut. Usually when a serial ends, the production company notifies the cast and crew a month in advance, and this hasn’t happened in our case. So we guess somebody is spreading these rumours.”

It is said that Shahi too is not leaving no stone to present him again as he is glad that despite getting offers from other producers, Mahajan showed his loyality and conseted to be the part of the show.

Kinshuk told us, “After ‘Bidaai’, I already had few other shows in my hand. But I chose ‘Chaand Chhupa Badal Mein’ because Rajan Sir always saw a conviction in me so he approached me and he said that Kinshuk only you can do this role.”

Currently, ‘Chaand Chhupa..’ track going on is that of a love triangle between the three leads, Abhishek Tiwari playing Siddarth, Neha Sargam playing Nivedita, and Rishma Rochlani playing Divya, which will change. Kinshuk will start shooting for the show within a week’s time.

Chopra plays a 38-year-old rich, suave business tycoon who proves to be Tapasya’s (Rashmi Desai) source of strength in the trying times she’s facing currently. Post the revelation of her past misdeeds by husband Veer (Nandish Sandhu), and losing the support of her family, Tapasya is left homeless. Rocky becomes the confidante. Gaurav is excited about his new role. Wonder what interesting twist the show will now take. Any guesses, guys?

rating three plus points on the chart, it has slipped from this position. Competing shows like Uttaran and (Colors) and Pavitra Ristha (Zee TV) have delivered between five and seven points.

Even Laagi Tujhse Lagan (Colors) has averaged at five points. When asked why, Shahi comments, “I think the time when there was one show on top for many months has changed. Today, the top slot is occupied by a different show every week.

Why pin point Bidaai? After a two-year run, not every show rates at three plus. It’s an achievement for my show.”
Sara Khan and Kinshuk Mahajan, two of the leading faces of the show that deals with the stigma against dark skin, left the show a month and a half ago.

The show took an eight-year leap, introduced two child actors, and brought in Sulagna Panigrahi and Apoorva Agnihotri as new lead characters. However, nothing could help the ratings from taking a downward spiral. “We touched upon the fair and dark skin issue highlighting the negative effects because there’s tremendous pressure on everyone to look good,” argues Shahi.

“But when we did this, we looked at other sub-plots too. I wouldn’t say that the leap failed. It was needed in the show. Maybe the audience needs time to adjust with the way the storyline is proceeding.”

AnGini are in the sanstha. The matron inforns them that sakshi has left just a while back. Ragini says “that’s fine we wanted to come here when Sakshi wouldn’t be here.” The matron is curious. Anmol covers it up by saying that they are plotting a surprise for Sakshi, and had come to invite her friends for the engagement party as well as her personal friends. The matron says “question one of sakshi’s friends.” Anmol makes another exucse saying that it is a surprise and that they don’t want sakshi to know about it. The matron informs them about sakshi’s diary where she keeps all her contacts and numbers. AnGini follow the matron to sakshi’s room.

Vasu is giving Sakshi her shagun. Sakshi leaves no chance to impress Vasu, and vasu is highly impressed LOL Vasu gets a call and she leaves to attend it. TaShi come to sakshi and khushi questions sakshi if she could call her chotti ma, but sakshi says no. Vasu’s smile fades away as soon as she hears this, TaShi are also upset. Vasu comes there and says “why sakshi? Why did you say that?” Sakshi says “ma’am the thing is that i belive in relationships made from like not relations.” Vasu is impressed once again. “I want khushi to get mother’s like. I want her to call me mom, not chotti ma.” Vasu is highly impressed. Vasu tells TaShi to give some time to Sakshi and they can help her out with selecting the jewellery for the engagement.

The matron leaves to get refreshments for angini while they search for the diary. Ragini searches through the diary, but there was nothing but contacts. Anmol says “you remmeber last night sakshi was being teased by goons, she then told me that they were here from the jewellers. Maybe Sakshi has sold her jewellery to the jewellers. Ragini says “how can we find out? If we search through her wardrobe then perhaps we can find something.” Anmol agrees, Ragini searches through sakshi’s wardrobe. Anmol tells her to rush as they don’t have enough time. The matron comes there, Angini sit on the bed (gosh they are so close Embarrassed) the matron offers them refreshments. Ragini has hidden a file under the quilt. She requests matron to get soem water for her. The matron leaves, and Ragini immediately tales the file and searches through it. It was about Sakshi’s home. Ragini says if we go to this state agency that’s mentioned here then perhaps we can find something out.” anGini imeediately leave.

Vasu is selecting jewellery for Sakshi. Vasu just gifts her the jewellery and start to select sarees. Vasu requests sakshi to try on the saree. Tammy compliements Sakshi to khushi.

Tarun is at the state agency, he gives sakshi a call, and he informs her that he is to get the advance back from the agency as they aren’t going to live here in agar afterwards. Sakshi says “that’s fine but have you thought where will we go?” Tarun says “mumbai. But we need alot of money to buy an apartment there in mumbai.” Sakshi says “don’t worry, vasundhra rajvansh will have to pay for taking my advantage. Just reckon when Vasundhara’s son’s wedding would be taking place, then everyone would know that her daughter in law has run away with the jewellery.” Sakshi turns around and is shocked to see vasu there.

AnGini are at the estate agency. They questioned the broker about Sakshi, ragini covers it up by saying that they ar eher friends and want to help her out. Anmol says “she likes this apartment, so we thought why not come here and find out about any details, such as deals and payments.” The broker informs her about Tarun, sakshi’s would be husband. AnGini are shocked. Ragini says “yes we know about it, but we wanted to knoe if the apartment was booked yet.” The broker says “no they haven’t made any down payements yet.” The broked leaves to attend a call. Anmol says “so she wanted to buy this apartment.” Ragini says “but if she has a boyfriend and wants to marry him, then why did she agree to marry jija ji?” tarun overhears this. The broker arrives, anmol questions about sakshi’s boyfriend’s name. But he couldn’t remember. Anmol says “Sakshi doesn’t tell us anything. But we want to help her. We are willing to give 15-20 lakhs just like this.” Tarun is surprised. Ragini questions for the papers. The broker says the papers are in the room, but it’s locked and they can’t enter until his assistant arrives. AnGini are willing to wait.

Sakshi and mama ji talk (not going to get into detail about this, it’s dull anyways)

Tarun sneaks into the office, to remove the files. AnGinia re waiting in the room for quite a while now. Tarun tries to get the files but the drawer seems to be locked. The assitant arrives AnGini leave to get the papers. Tarun manages to break into the drawer, and removes the file. The assistant tries to open the door.
